Chapter 31: North Wind Eagle Guard (Part )
Chimera completed its dive with remarkable results.
This was just one charge, and it knocked down three Eagle Guards, causing many monsters in the Burning Lair to cheer enthusiastically. Even the wyvern, which had always been unruly and only submitted to the red dragon, raised its head and neighed.
"Roar--"
The three monsters were very proud of themselves, and all three heads let out a hearty roar.
It flapped its wings vigorously, climbing again along the air flow, attempting to make the next attack.
"Monster, your opponent is me!"
A dark shadow passed behind Chimera.
The combination of Alger's superb riding skills and the giant eagle's flying skills allowed the giant eagle to fly on the air currents of the Chimera, which also placed them in a blind spot that the Chimera could not see.
He leaned forward and swung the sharp sword in his hand, cutting through the chimera's tough fur.
Food in the middle of nowhere.
"Ow!"
The Chimera felt the injury on its back and let out an angry howl.
Then, the Chimera turned rapidly in the air and slapped the position behind it with its thick dragon tail.
"Igor!"
Alger called out to his companions and squeezed his legs together.
The giant eagle immediately understood what he meant, and rolled sideways in the air, easily avoiding the blow.
The dragon's tail swung in the air, and Chimera was furious. While speeding up, he turned the dragon's head and breathed out a scorching breath of fire at the Eagle Guards behind it.
"boom--"
Flames burned in the air.
But the Chimera's neck obviously cannot rotate in all directions.
Alger controlled the giant eagle with one hand, and just slightly tilted it to the side to avoid the fire breath. Then, with the advantage of maneuverability, he flew diagonally to the blind spot just above the Chimera.
"If you control the sky, you control everything." The old instructor often said this to them.
Seeing that the Eagle Guard was following closely behind him, Chimera swooped down again.
"Shh-"
Relying on its familiarity with the terrain, it instantly spread its dragon wings and stopped suddenly, wanting to make the eagle guard crash into the rock wall.
However, Alger didn't buy it.
He just followed Chimera slowly and turned around leisurely.
But this time when he turned, his eagle-like eyes noticed some different details.
The Chimera's left wing was a beat slow in deploying.
But at this moment, Alger keenly noticed it.
"Its left wing has an old wound!"
Alger said excitedly.
He stroked the feathers beneath his body, and the giant eagle let out a sharp scream in the air and swooped down.
"Shh-"
This time the blade slashed across the Chimaera's hind legs.
Alger was very patient when dealing with large monsters.
He never expected to kill the opponent with one blow, but instead wanted to use his advantage of mobility to slowly bleed the opponent.
When facing this kind of monster, patient hunters can often reap the spoils, while impatient hunters often lose their lives due to the monster's unintentional trampling.
Except for the barbarians, of course.
Knowing that Chimera's wings had old injuries and could not change direction easily, the Eagle Guard Captain's attack became even more unscrupulous.
This time, the giant eagle actually hovered on its belly.
“Action like a tide!”
Alger's muscles tensed up and his movements suddenly quickened.
In just a few seconds, he swung out several swords in succession, and each sword cut through the tough and thick lion skin, penetrated into the flesh, and even touched the Chimera's soft internal organs.
"Ow—"
The chimera let out a painful howl, then endured the severe pain and slapped its body with its sharp claws.
But at this time, the Giant Eagle Knight had already come to his side and found the next flaw. "Hit along the way!"
Alger had just finished striking with his sword when he slashed sideways, accurately cutting through the Chimera's sharp claws that were slapping down.
The Chimera wailed again, and all three heads rose up at the same time.
Eagle feathers flew and blood splattered.
With Alger's superb skills, the giant eagle repeatedly flew over the back, side, and abdomen of the Chimera in the air. His giant sword repeatedly caused the monster's blood to splatter, but the Chimera could hardly touch even a feather.
This is the difference between a beast and a warrior.
The wyverns flapped their wings and rushed forward, wanting to help.
But they can't protect themselves.
Soon, each wyvern was surrounded and harassed by a small formation of seven or eight Eagle Guards. It could only rage helplessly, roaring constantly and stabbing everywhere with its tail.
"Iger, up left."
There was a hint of excitement in Alger's tone. Every time he killed a large monster like this, his blood would boil.
"I want this guy's wings cut off!"
"Wow!"
With a sharp eagle cry, Alger and the giant eagle turned into a black shadow and swooped down, flying towards the already dizzy Chimera.
Just as his great sword was about to chop off the dragon's wings -
"Fireball!"
A blazing fireball rushed from the ground towards the giant eagle.
The ogre mage Rumple had been observing on the ground for a long time, waiting for an opportunity for them to relax.
"Igor!"
Alger yelled and twisted his body to adjust the direction.
The giant eagle unexpectedly turned sideways during its dive and narrowly avoided the fireball once again.
Only the feathers on the right wing were swept by the flames, leaving a charred mark.
However, he had already adjusted once in the air, and his posture was a little awkward.
Chimera also came to his senses and realized that this was a rare opportunity, but the scars that kept accumulating made it almost lose its mind, and it just wanted to vent the anger that had been accumulating for a long time.
It roared and swung out its lion claws.
"boom!"
Suddenly, eagle feathers flew and blood splattered everywhere.
The giant eagle and the knight on it were knocked away more than ten meters.
But even after being attacked like this and spinning and tumbling in the air, Alger still clamped his legs together and did not fall from the giant eagle.
"Iger, right!"
However, not only did he not fall, he even adjusted his own center of gravity to help the injured giant eagle maintain its balance, spread its wings and maintain the most basic flight.
Seeing that Alger was still in the air, Chimera became even angrier and rushed forward again.
"Eagle Guards assemble!"
"This Chimera is almost dying!"
Alger raised his sword high.
The Eagle Guards who were fighting with the flying dragons all around immediately dispersed, gradually surrounded Chimera from all directions, and prepared to harass it again in formation.
Arrows were shot from all directions, and occasionally they had to deal with lance charges from behind.
Chimera was already covered in wounds and could not bear the burden.
Although the Chimera is not very intelligent, it knows that the situation will be bad if it continues like this. It really cannot tolerate these hateful "flies" invading everywhere.
Then, the three heads of the Chimera let out hoarse roars at the same time, and it pounced several times in a bluffing manner. Taking advantage of the opportunity when the Eagle Guards dodged and scattered, it turned around and fled with a feint.
It wanted to escape to the cave and hold its ground.
Alger instantly saw through Chimera's intention.
"He's going to run away!"
"Eagle Guards, prepare for a group charge!"
