Chapter 30: North Wind Eagle Guard

Chapter 30: North Wind Eagle Guard (I)

"boom!"

"Boom! Boom!"

Several huge rocks fell one after another, hitting the ground with a loud bang.

Cassius kept changing directions and dodging in the air, bursting out with unimaginable speed. If people had not seen it with their own eyes, few would have believed that this was a red dragon known for its strength and clumsiness.

"Crack!"

There was a sudden cracking sound from the top of the rock.

Cassius raised his head slightly while flying at high speed and discovered that the rocks on top of the exit were collapsing.

The red dragon looked solemn, its wings folded sharply, and its limbs were also tucked tightly under its body.

"Shh-"

His body dived straight down like an arrow shot from a bow.

At the last moment when the rock pile collapsed, Cassius rushed out of the cave, and the tip of his tail brushed against the falling rocks.

"boom--"

What followed was a loud bang and a cloud of dust.

Then there was silence.

This tomb was completely buried at the bottom of the rock, and no one could peek into it anymore. Although the human tomb was completely destroyed in the process, in a sense, it also fulfilled the wish of the Storm Giant Elder that was buried in history.

"rest in peace."

Cassius took one last look at the entrance submerged in rock and soil and spoke softly.

He patted the ancient words on the stone pillar at the door and turned to leave.

The red dragon spread out its claws, and the dark blue Eye of the Storm King still lay quietly in it.

"This thing's power is too great. We can't just swallow it. We need to find a container."

He was still in shock from the terrible storm that had just occurred.

Storm Heights, Nest of Embers.

On the walls of the Rock Fortress, there were many corpses of goblins and ogres, and even a few ogres, most of them were killed by arrows from the sky.

There were not only roaring flying dragons in the sky, but also more than forty giant eagles of huge size.

These giant eagles have bright feathers, important parts covered with scales, and a wingspan of more than six meters.

If you look closely, you will find that each giant eagle carries a knight wearing heavy plate armor with only his eyes exposed on his back.

They all have patterns of eagles and swords on their chests.

This is the Eagle Guard of the Rackman family!

The reason why the Rackman family is called the "Eagle of the North Wind" is because their ancestor Telge Rackman stole giant eagle eggs from the highest point of the Storm Cliff, raised a large number of giant eagles in the territory, and trained elite giant eagle knights as his personal guards.

These giant eagle knights can not only fight against invasions by monsters such as frost giants and flying dragons, but can also become weapons for lords to wage war against each other.

These knights, called "Eagle Guards", have been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years.

The battle in the air continues.

More than forty Eagle Guards, some with bows and arrows or holding spears, rode giant eagles and flew around the eight flying dragons.

They connected end to end, forming a huge encirclement.

They had ample experience in fighting flying dragons and knew that they could not confront these huge monsters head-on. They also understood their disadvantages of being large in size and having difficulty turning in the air, as well as their own advantage in maneuverability.

Therefore, the so-called "circle formation" was adopted.

The Eagle Guards covered each other from the front and rear, making the flying dragons dizzy.

Any one of them that pounced would be attacked by arrows, and if the flying dragon missed, it would be hit by a spear from behind.

The goblin troops on the ground had no way to deal with these high-speed moving aerial targets and could only shoot some weak arrows.

But these arrows passed through the resistance of the air and then hit the Eagle Guards' plate armor, bouncing off like a tickle.

The ogres roared and howled, throwing huge rocks into the sky.

He threw an ogre into the air without even aiming, just based on his feeling.

"Bang!" The stone drew a graceful arc in the air and actually knocked down an unlucky Eagle Guard.

"Ooooh! Hit it!"

"Good job Big Head!"

"Knock down those little flies and meat cans!"

The ogres cheered excitedly and rushed forward, tearing the giant eagle and its knight into pieces.

Trump, standing at the highest point of the city wall, was not to be outdone. He waved his stick and pointed it at the sky.

"Fireball!"

The scorching fireball flew straight towards the giant eagle in the sky.

But the giant eagle was able to turn around and avoid the fireball under the knight's superb control. The fireball passed by the giant eagle's chest, leaving only a string of charred marks.

Although it missed, the deterrent effect was strong and the Eagle Guards became alert instantly.

"It's the caster!"

"Don't get close to that section of the wall! Damn it, how could there be such a thing as an ogre mage?"

"Watch out, there's a spellcaster there!"

Trump's face was gloomy. The Giant Eagle Knights were too mobile. Often, before he could finish building the model of his fireball, these guys would fly into the sky and escape.

Even if you hit one or two with a stone, it would just be luck.

Rumple adjusted his glasses and muttered to himself, "I can't count on the goblins, and these brainless dragons won't work either. I still have to rely on the beast, or... wait for the master to come back and solve the problem."

"No, it's just a few dozen humans."

"The master will be disappointed in me."

Thinking of this, the ogre magician shouted in Dragon Language towards the cave on the rock wall: "Chimera, if you don't take action now, do you want to wait for the master to come back and tear you into pieces?"

"Roar--"

An angry roar came from the cave.

A gigantic monster with three heads: a goat, a lion, and a dragon rushed out of the dark cave, flapped its dragon-like wings, and soared into the sky.

"It's Chimera!"

An Eagle Guard exclaimed in the air.

"Disperse the formation!"

A steady voice came from the air.

The source of the voice was Alger Yeoman, the captain of the Eagle Guard and an experienced warrior.

Under the heavy standard plate armor were a pair of extremely calm eyes.

Unlike others, the weapon in his hand was not a lance or a bow and arrow, but a heavy sword with a hollow pattern of an eagle spreading its wings engraved on it.

Chimera flapped its wings and flew to the highest point.

"Ow—"

It let out a long howl.

Then it glides and dives in the way it is most familiar with, spewing a breath of scorching fire from its mouth.

The Eagle Guards immediately abandoned their original formation and scattered to avoid the fire attack.

However, faced with the Chimera swooping down at high speed, three Eagle Guards were unable to dodge and were engulfed by the flames. They burned fiercely in the air and then fell to the ground wailing.

Seeing his companions being killed or injured, Alger shouted:
"Leave this Chimaera to me! Go and continue to surround those flying dragons!"

He leaned forward slightly, stroked the giant eagle's feathers, and whispered, "Iger, it's time to go!"

The giant eagle and the knight lived and fought together, so they naturally understood each other's intentions without much explanation.

"Wow—"

A sharp eagle cry was heard in the air.
