Chapter 32: North Wind Eagle Guard (Part )
"Wow—"
The giant eagles screamed, formed into formation, and swooped down after the Chimera.
But just as they were about to catch up with Chimera from behind, a red figure appeared in the cave.
The fleeing Chimera saw that figure and immediately felt as if he had been pardoned. He shouted loudly in the few dragon languages he knew:
"Master, help!"
Cassius looked at the row of giant eagles behind Chimaera with a puzzled look in his eyes.
Seeing the knight wearing heavy plate armor and an eagle emblem on the giant eagle, his doubts grew even more.
"Is this the Eagle Guard?"
He just went underground for a few days.
How come the Eagle Guards came to my hometown to attack me?
Could it be that Trump was blinded by the "grand blueprint" and sent troops to attack North Wind Castle?
But when he saw the flock of giant eagles swooping down, he could not care less and could only fight.
"Such a dense formation"
"Are you waiting for me to cook the barbecue?"
After not killing for a long time, Cassius couldn't help but lick his lips and exhaled a breath of hot, sulfur-smelling air.
The brutality deep in the red dragon's blood was awakened.
Alger was originally in command from high in the sky, swinging his sword and directing the Eagle Guards to charge.
But the moment he saw the red figure in the distance, his expression suddenly changed, and for the first time, panic and nervousness appeared in his tone.
"dragon!"
"It's a red dragon!"
Alger shouted desperately.
A dragon, no matter what kind of dragon it is, is an opponent he absolutely does not want to face in battle.
Whether it's the scales that are harder than armor, the endless large-scale breath, or the endless spell-like abilities, they are all absolute nightmares for the Giant Eagle Knights.
"Spread out! Spread out!"
However, not everyone has his keen senses and superb riding skills, which allow him to detect danger at high speed and stop the charge.
The Eagle Guards have lined up and charged to the cave entrance.
It's too late.
Cassius simply opened his jaw slightly, and the dragon's unique basal blood vessels filled the fire energy from the whole body into the lungs. Those hot elements accumulated in the lungs and throat, making his chest glow faintly like lava - this was a precursor to the red dragon's breath.
"Flame Breath!"
In an instant, extremely hot and majestic flames gushed out from the red dragon's mouth. The raging flames mercilessly devoured all the Eagle Guards charging in the front row, turning the entire cave entrance into a purgatory on earth.
The raging flames engulfed everything, and the few people rushing in the front didn't even have the slightest chance to resist. The red light of the flames was reflected in their pupils, and then they were reduced to ashes.
However, compared to many of their companions, they were even lucky, at least they died quickly and cleanly.
The dozen or so Eagle Guards behind them also burst into flames and turned into fireballs.
"what!"
“I’m on fire!”
"So hot!"
"Help! Help!"
They could only wail, scream, and struggle, and eventually were either burned to death or fell to their deaths from the giant eagle. In any case, they could not escape the clutches of the red dragon, which was like the god of death.
The red dragon was calm and slowly flapped its wings and flew up, looking down at the eagle guards burned by the flames.
Chimera hid humbly behind the red dragon, shrinking its neck and watching the scene of slaughter, shouting for revenge, and no longer had the heart to resist the red dragon.
Because the scene before it made it deeply understand that such a force was no longer something it could defeat.
The two-legged dragons in the air all raised their heads and roared, celebrating the return of the owner of this nest.
The ogres cheered as they waved their clubs and hammers, and the goblins raised their short spears in excitement.
The kobold knelt on the ground as if he had seen a god, witnessing the powerful strength of his master.
In just a moment, the situation was completely reversed. Seeing dozens of comrades who had fought side by side with him die in an instant, Alger's eyes turned red, but he still flew up on the giant eagle, raising the greatsword in his hand high.
The wind blew across the hollow patterns on the sword, making a sharp sound like an eagle's cry.
He shouted, "Retreat! Everyone retreat!"
"Disperse and retreat!"
The remaining twenty or so Eagle Guards witnessed the terrifying purgatory-like situation just now and knew that they could not defeat the enemy in front of them. They flew away without hesitation on their giant eagles, each flying in different directions.
Eagle Guards require a great deal of resources to train, so they are taught from childhood to preserve their manpower to the greatest extent possible.
Cassius hung high in the air, flapping his wings slowly.
He looked at the fleeing Eagle Guards with a barely perceptible grin on his face.
"We've been beaten to our lair - and you're still thinking of escaping?"
"Isn't that a bit too much of a disdain for dragons?"
The red dragon slowly rose to its highest point, its basal blood vessels once again filling its lungs with fire elements, accumulating high-temperature energy deep in its throat - only this time the energy was not as concentrated as last time.
As Alger retreated, he did not forget to look back. He looked up at the red dragon hovering in the sky, and his expression suddenly changed again.
"Dragon Breath!"
"Another dragon's breath! Get out of the way!"
He reminded at the top of his voice.
Cassius merely opened his jaw slightly, and blazing flames poured out.
"Target breath weapon!"
This time, the red dragon did not spit out a large-scale breath of flames, but rather several short fireballs.
One fireball after another was precisely aimed at the direction where the Eagle Guards were fleeing, flying towards the target carrying scorching energy.
"boom!"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The sounds of several flames bombarding were heard, and several knights who were hit fell, dragging flames with them.
Alger, who was also targeted, spun several times in the air and made a sharp turn before he barely avoided the fireball.
"What on earth is this..."
This is not a breath, it's more like a wizard's incredibly precise fire spell.
Watching his companions falling from the sky one by one, Alger took a deep breath and said in a decisive tone:
"You retreat first!"
"I'll go distract the dragon."
Alger stroked the giant eagle's charred feathers again and said softly, "Iger, this may be our last charge."
The giant eagle understood what he was saying and cried out in a low voice.
They are not only knights and their mounts, but also comrades who have lived together day and night and grown up together.
"It's a pity that I haven't had time to repay the Duke's kindness, nor have I killed all those damned demons."
Alger muttered to himself.
Years of combat training have made him familiar with every key point of flying and understand every airflow, as if he has become one with the giant eagle.
He skillfully steered the giant eagle, climbing higher and higher until he reached a point higher than the red dragon, until he turned into a blurry black dot in the eyes of everyone.
Alger swooped down from the highest point.
——He rushed straight towards the powerful red dragon that others tried to avoid, just like Don Quixote rushing towards the windmill in the story.
"Wow—"
A powerful eagle cry resounded through the sky.
Cassius raised his head slightly and noticed the Eagle Guards swooping down from the sky. His golden pupils slightly opened:
"interesting."
"He's actually a high-level fighter?"
