Chapter 112-02: Alas, the Riddler

Chapter 112-02: Alas, the Riddler (Part )
Jennifer knows her place.

Knowing that he was a marginal figure among marginal figures among the Paladins, he certainly could not agree to it. Everything needed that person's consent.

After dealing with the Pope, she wanted to visit this famous ancient monument, but when she saw the crowds of people outside, she immediately lost her mood. She turned back to the arranged room, prepared to take a bath and curl up in bed to watch TV series to kill time.

But when she returned to her room, she spotted the figure that surprised her at a glance.

He was sitting on the bed, flipping through an ancient book.
"Owen!" Jennifer couldn't help herself and jumped towards Bai Shihang who was sitting on the edge of the bed with a joyful smile.

The bed protested, and Jennifer greedily breathed in the scent of the person in her arms.

When he left last time, Bai Shihang told her that Owen was a fake name, but he didn't tell her his real name. However, she didn't seem to have any objection to this.

Or dare not have an opinion.

"I understand the Pope's request."

After Jennifer let go of Bai Shihang, she heard this sentence. Her heart couldn't help but jump, and her movements became a little restrained: "So, do you agree or refuse?"

"I will be participating as Owen, and I think it's no secret to them."

He has appeared with Jennifer many times with this appearance and identity, and he has never deliberately concealed it. Even if the Holy See's intelligence capabilities are weak, they should still be able to know this.

It just so happened that he was planning to use Gaul as the starting point for a new round of travel, so it would be okay for him to stay here for a few days and use his main body to carefully observe whether the broken arm would undergo any changes during the mass.

A few days later.

Miki Inagaki was escorted to the Abbey of St. Michel, along with William and an action team led by Yumi Takashima.

Originally, the Japanese side was unwilling to let Miki Inagaki go abroad, but she was holding the banner of exchanging experiences in fighting demons, and the authorities could not directly stop her, so they could only leave it to Inagaki herself to decide.

As long as Inagaki was against the devil, she would not object, so she agreed to the invitation.

In order to prevent any accidents, the Japanese side specially asked William to act as an interpreter and keep an eye on Inagaki's actions to prevent her from being "cheated". They even asked Yumi Takashima to act as a deterrent to hint to the church not to go too far and do impolite things like prying people away.

By the way, find opportunities to play the victim to the other party.

I'm crying my heart out! Our country is suffering from so many disasters and we really need an extraordinary person to take charge!

Miki Inagaki didn't know what they were thinking, and even if she knew, she wouldn't care. Her purpose was simple, to share her experience in dealing with demons and share some supreme ideals to prevent more people from being possessed by demons.

She would not consider whether the other party, who is the world's number one religion, would believe in the Supreme Being. She was just doing what she thought was right.

Arriving at the monastery in the morning, Miki Inagaki first had a preliminary meeting with the Pope, and the formal exchange meeting would be held the day after tomorrow. She was also told that a special thanksgiving mass would be held after the exchange meeting.

Inagaki did not express any objection. After knowing the exact time, she returned to her room and prayed as she did every day.

"Your Holiness, may I have the honor of meeting Pastor Brand?"

William asked Yumi Takashima to send Inagaki back to his room, and he stayed there and talked with the Pope.

"Brand usually doesn't meet outsiders alone, but every noon, he will lead the brothers and sisters in chanting in the main hall. If you, William, also want to see the holy relics, you just need to wait in the main hall."

The Pope was not surprised. Many people were interested in the angel's relics, not to mention the intelligence chief of the special department in front of him.

William nodded in thanks.

He was naturally interested in the holy relics, but he was more interested in Brand. From the information he had collected, it seemed that Brand had extraordinary abilities without taking any elixir. He was particularly curious about this and hoped to get Brand's personal confirmation.

"I always feel that the cat's origin is unusual, but unfortunately the clues are broken."

Some time ago, he secretly investigated the situation of One Eye. He dug out several people who had fed the cat, but after monitoring for a while, he gained nothing.

Although it was later discovered that the cat had appeared in Ogano Town and even left behind two children, a search of the forest did not find more useful information and it seemed to have left the place.

All he could do was ask people to pay more attention and see if the cat would come back to see its children.

With something on his mind, William came to the crowded main hall. The seats were already full, but he didn't mind. He followed the example of others and found a relatively clean piece of ground, sat down cross-legged, and waited for Pastor Brand to appear.

"Will you attend Mass in three days?"

"Of course I want it."

"It might be a high tide that day. We might have to stay here all night. There aren't that many places to sleep."

Under normal circumstances, Mont Saint Michel is connected to the outside world by a road and surrounding mudflats during the day, but the tide rises at night, flooding the road and mudflats, turning it into an isolated island.

But during high tides, the road may be flooded for a whole day. If they want to leave, they can only wait for the tide to recede, and they may not even have a place to sleep.

What they were discussing was obviously the Thanksgiving Mass that the Pope had just mentioned, but he was not sure whether the Mass would be presided over by the Pope.

If so, the scale and the special location made him instinctively feel that the upcoming mass was not ordinary.

As I was daydreaming, the sun gradually rose higher. In the main hall of the monastery, Brand appeared from the end of the corridor. Under the gaze of all the believers, he walked to the main seat, holding a long object wrapped in white cloth in his arms.

He placed the long object on a high tray beside him, carefully uncovered the white cloth, and made the sign of the cross.

There was more discussion in the hall. Some stared at the broken arm in admiration and some shed tears.

Brand didn't say anything, he just opened the scripture and began to lead the chanting.

People put their thoughts aside, followed Brand's guidance, and recited classics.

The chanting lasted about forty minutes, and for the next two hours, Brand would communicate with the believers and listen to their confessions and prayers.

William queued up obediently, and when it was his turn, he didn't say much and just asked directly.

"Reverend Brand, I would like to ask you a question. Did the angel give you any elixir to take?"

Brand calmly shook his head: "I just received the revelation from Lord Michael, so I was able to borrow a little power from the Lord to destroy the demons. I have never taken any so-called elixir."

"I see. Thank you for your answer."

The answer was pretty much what he expected, and personally, he believed what Brand said.

If this is the case, the theory in the bureau that "supernatural beings must take elixirs" will suffer a severe blow.

"The false ones once called the angels forerunners. The Holy Child also talked about the origin of the forerunners. Is it simply because the power bestowed by the forerunners is different from the extraordinary power of these people?"

"Hey, Riddler, get out of the solar system."
