Chapter 111-01: Holy Mountain (Please order first!)
Mont Saint Michel.
It is located in a mudflat along the coast of a city on the west side of Gaul that is famous for its landing battles, about two kilometers away from the land.
It is called a mountain, but in fact it is more like a small hill protruding from the sea level.
Every evening when the sun sets, the tide begins to rise. At around eight or nine o'clock, the moon hangs high in the sky. The whole hill looks like an isolated island in the water. Under the reflection of the evening lights, it looks like a fairy tale castle.
As a famous tourist attraction and pilgrimage site, this place is a world-renowned ancient monument, and a large number of believers and tourists come here every day.
The situation has changed significantly in recent times. Ever since Michael appeared in New York, the flow of people here has been endless, even to the point of being shoulder to shoulder.
After all, according to legend, this is a holy place built by the archangel Michael. Now that Michael has appeared, who would dare to say that this is a made-up story?
Moreover, Reverend Brand, who was blessed by the angel, jointly announced with the Pope that, in accordance with the angel's will, he brought Michael's severed arm to the Monastery of St. Michael for meditation.
Now the believers became even more crazy, and they all wanted to see the holy relic such as the angel's broken arm with their own eyes, and receive the blessing of Pastor Brand.
What? He is a Protestant? It doesn't matter. If the angels need them, they can change their denominations from today. After all, they are all God's people. The Pope will forgive them.
Amidst all this turmoil, the Holy Mountain began to tighten the number of daily visitors, but this could not stop people's enthusiasm. Reservations were already scheduled for half a year later, and even the small town on the other side of the river quickly prospered due to the tourism industry.
After all, even if you can't go up, it's good to look at it from a distance.
Every day at noon, in the monastery of the Holy Mountain, Brand would appear with the broken arm of an angel and recite scriptures. He felt that this was also a form of practice.
After a while, Brand witnessed the suffering and piety of many people. Out of compassion, he prayed to the Lord every day, asking for a mass to be held to eliminate the pain of these poor people, but he never received a response.
In fact, he could apply to borrow Shiraishi Ko's ability for treatment, but he felt that this was an offense. Unless it was a battle to destroy demons, he did not want to borrow the Lord's ability for everything. Instead, he preferred to use traditional prayers, hoping that the Lord would perform a miracle.
Shiraishi Hang didn't care much about it at first, but after Brand prayed one time, he happened to have nothing to do so he turned his attention here.
Then there was an unexpected discovery: the broken arm of the angel that he had marked seemed to have undergone some special changes.
But when he actually looked carefully, it was still the same as before, and the so-called change seemed to be just his illusion.
But Bai Shihang would never think that he had seen it wrong, so after observing carefully for a long time, he was sure that the broken arm must have undergone some unknown changes.
He guessed that it might be because Brand often chanted scriptures among believers with his broken arm during this period, which was related to mysterious beliefs and vows.
But he had seen many so-called holy objects, and had not discovered anything new.
Is it a side effect of your own "mark"?
In order to gain further confirmation, he responded to Brand with a revelation that he should celebrate a public Mass at Mont Saint-Michel.
Bai Shihang wants to experiment and see if this change will be more obvious if he breaks his arm to show his divine power.
After receiving the response, Brand solemnly thanked God for his mercy, but felt that his own contribution was not enough, so he also informed the Pope and the bishops (Anglicans), hoping to get their help.
The Pope and the bishops who received the news took it very seriously and did not raise any questions. Instead, they immediately rushed over with their professional team to discuss how to hold the Mass, how to coordinate the scripture interpretation, and how to limit the number of people who could attend.
If it were open to the public, the entire Mont Saint-Michel would definitely not be able to accommodate so many people.
Compared to the expertise of these people, Brand felt inferior and worked hard to learn the rituals and tried his best to allow more believers to have the opportunity to bathe in God's grace.
"How about we arrange a live webcast of this Mass?"
The bishop made such a suggestion.
"This is not the crux of the problem. Live streaming is fine. Even if we don't, many people will take the initiative to do so. The problem now is that if we don't limit the number of believers, it will be impossible to accommodate all the believers coming given the area of Mont Saint-Michel." The Pope shook his head.
The conference room fell into silence again.
"How about we not inform the public in advance that a miracle will happen? Just treat it as a normal mass promotion? There may still be a lot of people, but it should be bearable. And if we schedule it at high tide, there will be no room for others to stand around."
Jennifer, who was wearing a special nun's uniform and feeling bored, expressed her thoughts.
Several people looked at each other and actually thought that this idea was feasible.
And to use the words of metaphysics, it is fate.
Those who are destined to be together will come naturally, and those who are not destined to be together cannot be forced, after all, everyone has their own destiny.
Brand will also try his best to allow some sick patients who really need miracles to participate.
Once the main policy is decided, the rest are some side details which can be left to the subordinates to arrange.
The Pope took advantage of the opportunity to put forward a proposal that he had been considering for a long time.
"Now the constant appearance of demons threatens the safety of the world. As the Lord's representative, I think it is necessary to hold a joint anti-demon meeting when the miracle comes. I heard that there is an extraordinary person in Japan who can sense the existence of demons. We can also invite her to come and share experiences in fighting demons."
As the Pope spoke, he looked at the people in front of him, finally stopping at Jennifer.
His main purpose was to invite someone from the Paladin lineage who could truly be the boss.
Brand strongly supports this proposal and believes that this may become a milestone in the fight against demons.
The Protestant bishop fully supported Brand's views. After all, Brand was now their only existence that was connected to the supernatural and the Lord, and they had to keep him safe to prevent him from defecting to the Holy See.
After the meeting, the Pope found Jennifer alone: "Sister Jennifer, can you invite more paladins to our meeting and share with us some methods or techniques to eliminate demons?"
Jennifer couldn't give an immediate answer: "I need to inform my companions first."
"This is as it should be. We are looking forward to and welcoming the arrival of the Paladins."
The Pope's words truly came from the heart.
During this period of time, he desperately read the classics and the vast sea of miscellaneous records. As a result, he found a lot of messy legends, but it was harder than climbing to the sky to follow the clues to find the modern people who were related to it.
Since I can't figure it out from myself, why not start with the paladins who once had connections with my own sect?
Although they split up later, maybe there are records of their extraordinary inheritance in the past, so that we can conduct better retrieval.
The worst-case scenario is that their sect's extraordinary inheritance is completely cut off, and there is no hope of revival.
Then, the sooner the grudges are resolved with the Paladins and the full cooperation of the Paladins is obtained, wouldn't it be a brilliant move to strengthen the Holy See's voice in the future extraordinary wave?
The Pope, who has thought very clearly about this aspect, can be said to have taken a very humble stance.
As for the claim that the Paladin was made up?
If someone has this idea, the Pope will be the first to jump out and excommunicate him on behalf of the Holy See.
Heretic, how dare you disturb my pious heart!
When it comes to the extraordinary, even if it is fake, he will try his best to make it true.
In this extraordinary world, it is truly shocking that the Holy Throne cannot even call forth an extraordinary person.
