Chapter 93: Wolf Disaster
"It's all your fault. We missed the festival!"
"Isn't this the music festival you were going to attend? Who can you blame for oversleeping? Now you have to travel at night. You might as well stay another day and leave tomorrow morning."
"Shut up!"
"By the way, please call my family and ask them to leave a maple syrup cake for me."
At night, a car drove on a sparsely populated country road, and the couple in the car started their daily quarrel again.
"Where's the phone?"
"Jacket."
The young woman took out her cell phone, found the number in the address book, and dialed it. While the call was still going on, she continued to say other things: "Isn't it just a short distance away from home? Why didn't you call earlier?"
"I didn't think about it, and my family also eats cake around this time, so I was afraid they would think I wasn't coming back today." The young man explained.
After a while, the woman put down her phone: "No one answered."
"Well, maybe I'm busy." The man shrugged, yawned, cheered himself up and continued driving.
Just at this moment, a car with high beams on came from the opposite direction, driving very fast and honking the horn frantically.
"Shit, what are you crazy about? I can't see the road!" The man was annoyed by the high beam and started cursing and honking the horn.
As if seeing that the other party had no intention of stopping, the oncoming car crossed the lane and stopped in front of the couple's car, blocking their way.
"F**k! I'm going to show him what a tough character is." After emergency braking, the man angrily unbuckled his seat belt and searched for his pistol.
The woman advised: "Wait! This might be a highwayman, or a gang. Don't get out of the car. Let's go around him!"
The man was stunned for a moment, then came to his senses in an instant, thinking that what his girlfriend said made sense, but he still took out the gun, turned the steering wheel, and planned to go around it directly.
"Hey! Don't go over there, don't go back to town!" A man got out of the car on the opposite side. It was Liam. At this moment, he had a lingering fear on his face and kept waving at the opposite side.
“It seems to be that, that strange hunter!” The woman squinted her eyes and identified for a few seconds before recognizing Liam’s identity.
When they found out they were residents of the same town, they both breathed a sigh of relief. The man turned off his high beams, opened the door and got out of the car.
"What are you talking about? Why can't we go back?"
"Wolves! Hundreds of wolves attacked the town and no one reacted. I was so focused on escaping that I was able to drive away in time, but I don't know if they chased us." Liam said with fear on his face. Facing such a terrifying tide of wolves, he had done his best by firing a few shots as a warning.
Although he didn't know it, it was because of the shots he fired that a group of wolves chased him relentlessly.
“How could there be such a large wolf pack!” the man retorted subconsciously, but Liam suddenly grabbed his arms. His eyes were red and bloodshot.
"Trust me, don't go back to town!" Liam said this solemnly, then let go of the man, hurried back to the car, drove back to his own lane, and sped away.
The man returned to the car in a daze, not knowing what he was thinking.
"He talked about a lot of wolves? Will the town be in danger? Should we go back to help?" Liam spoke very loudly just now, and the woman in the car heard it and asked anxiously.
The man came to his senses, took out his cell phone, and randomly dialed a number: "Call as well, anyone in town will do!"
The woman also reacted and took out her cell phone to make a call.
The car suddenly became extremely quiet; the only sounds could be heard: the car engine noise and the chirping of insects and the rustling of leaves outside.
As they made call after call but no one answered, their hearts sank further and further.
Just when they were about to despair, a childhood friend of the man answered the phone.
"shush"
The man who was about to ask a question suddenly choked up, lowered his voice, and asked: "What happened in the town?"
"Don't come back, wolf. Call the army." The voice on the other end was very low, speaking one word at a time.
The man just thought it was ridiculous. How could a pack of wolves exist that could kill an entire town without anyone being able to fight back? !
But listening to the cautious voice of the person involved, he could not refute it.
The man was about to hang up when he heard a loud bang from the other end, followed by his childhood friend's voice, which was distorted with fear. "Impossible! How could you find me! Go to hell! Bang bang - ah! Help, help - Ka, Gulu."
After a while of silence, there was a "crunching" sound and heavy breathing that was obviously not from a human being coming from the other end of the phone.
The man felt his hands and feet were cold. He hung up the phone and hurriedly prepared to drive around.
Today isn't April Fools' Day! Even if it is, it's not worth making such a fuss just to scare the two of them.
"Call the police, call the police, our town has been attacked by a large number of wolves!" the man shouted uncontrollably.
The woman also heard the conversation and called the police with a pale face.
boom!
The roof of the car made a crisp sound and suddenly deformed, as if something had hit it.
The man was startled and started steering frantically.
"Ahhh!" The woman screamed, pointing at the claws that pierced through the roof of the car.
Ouch!
Ouch!
The howling of wolves could be heard from the dark forests on both sides, and the green light like fireflies gradually appeared and disappeared.
The third-hand car finally turned around but accidentally crashed into a tree at the curb. The maple leaves that had not yet turned red fluttered down, as if falling into the cold hearts of the couple.
Worse still, the car wouldn't start.
"F**k! Move!" the man roared. How could this situation, which he would have complained about thousands of times in movies, happen to him?
Clang!
The roof of the car could no longer bear the weight, and the woman panicked and unbuckled her seat belt, opened the door and tried to escape.
"Don't go! Annie, it's more dangerous if you leave the car!" The man stretched out his hand to stop her, but he could only watch his girlfriend jump over the car, run forward like crazy, and then be jumped down from the wolf on the roof and knocked to the ground.
"I'm going to shoot you!" The man couldn't bear it any longer, he took off the safety of his pistol, got out of the car and fired three shots at the wild wolf.
"Woo!"
The wolf collapsed to one side, still trying to struggle, but he approached and shot it in the head again.
"Annie! Annie!"
"Wow, my shoulder, my shoulder was bitten."
"Go, let's go!"
The man helped his girlfriend up and looked back as he ran. He saw a large number of green eyeballs emerging from the darkness and running towards them.
It’s over.
This was the only thought in the man's mind.
Just when they were in despair, the car that had just left came back and drifted in front of them. Without even saying hello, they hurriedly got into the car.
The howling of wolves behind him became more and more intense. Before the man could close the car door and his legs were still exposed, Liam stepped on the accelerator and rushed out with smoking tires.
"Ow!"
The heel of his sneaker was bitten, and the man was so scared that he quickly kicked off the shoe that was bitten with his other foot and then quickly closed the door.
The two survivors were gasping for breath, and everything that had just happened seemed like a nightmare.
"Thank you, thank you! Hunter." The man calmed down a little, but felt a little embarrassed. He didn't know the other person's name and could only call him hunter.
Liam didn't mind this.
At least, he saved the people in two towns, and hoped that they would not be the only survivors of tonight's disaster.
