Chapter 128: Fellows
After Dr. Victor's initial treatment, Abdul (hereinafter referred to as Abu) inexplicably became a "disaster victim". Dr. Victor then took the opportunity to arrange for him to a large hospital, where his mother's injuries could be better taken care of.
Several nearby wards were occupied by the victims of "Apartment Building No. 6".
That's when Abu found out.
His house is gone.
More broadly speaking, these people have lost their homes.
Many people already had almost nothing, and now they have even lost their loved ones.
The crying sounds kept lingering in his ears, and everyone was complaining about why fate was so unfair.
Abu did not join in, but looked at the red fruit in his hand, wondering what he was thinking.
Because his mother was seriously injured, she was placed in the intensive care unit where more professional people were taking care of her. There was nothing he could do except pray.
Now he suspected that what he saw from Dr. Victor was an illusion, but where did this fruit with a special shape come from?
"It takes strength to change the status quo. How can this thing give me strength? Should I eat it?" Abu was lying on the hospital bed, looking at the wailing people. "And what do I want to change? Is it this scene in front of me? Or is it what I said at the time, mutual hatred?"
While he was thinking, he heard chaotic footsteps and some confusing conversations from outside.
First, a few men in suits walked in, looked around with a domineering aura, and then stood in several corners of the ward in silence.
"Reporters please make way - don't disturb the injured person's rest."
"Please make way. We will hold a press conference later."
Immediately afterwards, an unexpected guest came to this ward where Abu was staying.
This was the first time that Abu saw this important figure at such a close distance.
It seems that there is no difference from other people.
Olivier first greeted everyone, then came to the two people who were most seriously injured, chatted with them, and continued to comfort them.
Afterwards, I noticed a little boy who kept wiping his tears.
"Child, where are your parents?"
The little boy sobbed and lowered his head: "No, I couldn't come out."
The injured person nearby interjected: "He is the only one left in his family. How is he going to survive in the future?"
"Yeah, I guess I'll just have to go to an orphanage."
“Those orphanages”
Olivier was silent for a few seconds, then slowly stretched out his hands, hugged the little boy, patted his back gently, and said in his ear in a gentle voice:
"Child, listen to me. Life is like the sea. No one knows what kind of storms and rainstorms you will encounter. But don't forget that in the sea, there are your compatriots. They will lend a hand when you need help. That brother, this uncle, and of course me, this useless old grandfather, we are all your compatriots."
"Do you know why the sea is bitter? Because the sea will take away your tears. Everything will pass. Your strength is the best reward for your parents. When you grow up and start your own family, I think your parents will be very pleased."
Abu looked at the scene in front of him and listened to Olivier's gentle comfort to the little boy. Something in his heart seemed to be touched.
Yes.
This is what he wants.
Compatriots.
Fellow countrymen.
Ever since I was brought here as an immigrant, that feeling of not fitting in has always been there for me, and it's not something that can be fixed by working hard.
He longs to be recognized and accepted, longs to be discriminated against without foul language, longs to not be told “this is what immigrants are like” when he does something wrong.
"I may not be able to do it, but this gentleman should be able to do it." Only Abu could hear his voice.
At this moment, he seemed to have found the direction of his life, the guiding light.
"gentlemen!"
As Olivier was about to leave, he couldn't help but speak out.
Several men in suits stared at him, vaguely wary.
Olivier turned around and smiled, "Young man, do you want to ask something?"
"I, I..." Abu took a deep breath, "You said, 'Hatred only brings destruction, and destruction will inevitably breed new hatred. The entire country and the world will become a hotbed of revenge.'"
“So how do we eliminate hatred?”
"Forgiveness, but not unconditional forgiveness. This is a very profound issue. I have to go to the next ward. If you are interested, I will give a speech at Tro Square the day after tomorrow. I will mention this topic then. You can watch the news then." Olivier walked up, patted Abu on the shoulder, and was about to turn around and leave, but as if he remembered something, he took something out of his pocket and handed it to Abu.
"This is a sample of a souvenir I designed recently. Young man, you are the first, no, the second winner, haha."
After saying that, he left the ward.
With his departure, the ward became noisy again, but it was not known whether it was Abu's illusion or not, the ward was now more lively than before that gentleman came.
Abu lowered his head and looked at the souvenir in his hand.
A simple iron tower shape, a bit like two people with their foreheads against each other, holding hands, and the word "Unity".
After visiting the injured in several wards, Olivier received an urgent message and rushed back to the Palais de Delfort without stopping.
In the conference room, many important officials were sitting.
The director of the intelligence agency asked his subordinates to hand over copies of documents that were still warm from the copiers to the participants, while he stood on the podium and played video clips.
As the picture shakes, we can see a suspected physical male whose face cannot be seen clearly, jumping down from a sixth-floor building and landing steadily without any scratches or injuries. He also smashes together two black guys who were fleeing from the police, making it impossible to tell them apart.
"There is no doubt that this is something extraordinary that has never been seen before."
"There are many similar videos, but without exception -"
“He’s on a killing spree.”
"And they were all immigrants."
Everyone's eyes turned to Olivier.
Olivier frowned and asked, "Did you capture the behavior trajectory?"
"There are already new speculations about the destination, and extraordinary response forces have been deployed," the director replied.
"Since the other party chooses to kill directly, then we should eliminate them according to the highest threat." Olivier glanced at the death toll and extinguished the possibility of active negotiation.
"Based on his range of activities and the testimonies of the survivors, we speculate that the earthquake collapse in the area of Building No. 6 this morning may be related to him." The director dropped another bombshell.
The force that can bring down a building is no force to be ignored.
If the enemy manages to get here, all of them will be buried.
"Find a way to track, kill, and intercept. The military must fully cooperate. Everyone should activate emergency offices. All meetings should be temporarily changed to online meetings." Olivier issued orders one after another.
After the urgent meeting, the assistant asked anxiously, "Sir, should we cancel the speech the day after tomorrow? That unknown extraordinary person is targeting immigrants so much. I'm afraid..."
"No, proceed as usual." Olivier shook his head. "Seal off the Place de Troyes and broadcast the speech live. I will arrange for the deployment of troops."
"If he comes, let him be my only live audience."
Thanks to "Grain Hunter" for the second reward
