Chapter 49 020049: Two Not Simple Families

Chapter 49 02.0049: "Two Not Simple Families"

"Gothic Fleet Glory Codex"... ?
The major general took out the book and flipped through it quickly, following the movements of his fingers.

Creak—the door was gently pushed open.

The old butler brought refreshing tea according to Alexander Hood's order.

"When did Farida come back?" The major general flipped through the book and landed on one of the pages.

"The young lady came back last night, but left very soon. She has been at home for a while now." The old butler said respectfully.

"Who did she come back with?"

"Alone, sir. Is...something wrong?"

"Did she come into my study?"

The old butler's hand, which was placing the tea, froze in mid-air, but he quickly continued the action.

The master's words were obviously not a question. It seemed that he had discovered something, and it would be useless even if he tried to cover up for the young lady.

"I didn't see it with my own eyes, but the young lady should have come in."

"Are you sure she didn't bring anyone back?"

The old butler looked up in horror.

"I really didn't see it, sir."

"Farida found Admiral Speyer's only surviving offspring." Alexander looked at the illustration and introduction of the Chief Lord's Ring on the pages of the book, and a bitter feeling welled up in his mouth.

That was a shame that the Hood family could not help but cover up. Two veteran generals who had been on many battlefields actually contributed the first Chief Lord Ring in hundreds of years to a fledgling colonel, and the sum of their achievements was not as high as that of their colleague.

If the book had been tampered with, and the person who found it was Thomas Cochrane's son, then it would be easy to tell what was in it.

"Speyer...you mean the heroic admiral from the Gothic War?"

"So I want to know what she has been doing during the time she has been back. It's not peaceful out there right now..."

The man looked at the old butler with eagle-like sharp eyes.
-
What Major General Alexander Hood didn't know was that the person who broke into his study had already arrived above this huge floating platform and was in a manor diagonally opposite to him, only 10 kilometers away.

"Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Peru. I didn't expect you to come in person." Horatio said, sitting in the comfortable seat of the shuttle.

"I didn't expect you to be there. You've lived there for eight years, so you must have some feelings for it."

"Yeah, I wanted to go back and take a look before school starts." Horatio smiled. Now he could only respond according to the brigadier general's wishes.

"Speaking of which, I still remember how anxious your parents were when they learned about your accident. Your father had just been promoted to captain at that time. At the Gothic War Memorial Ceremony, he put the Chief Lord Captain Ring awarded by the Admiral Navy on your hand."

The man sat on the plush seat next to Horatio, his eyes closed, slowly fanning his navy bicorne in his hands.

"Something happened to your parents. I was the one who sent you on the shuttle. Who knew that conspiracy would happen? It changed the life trajectories of many of us. I don't know if Thomas is still upset about this incident..."

"Sir, what happened to my father? Captain Sterling asked me to..."

"We're already here, let's go get something to eat, Mr. Cochrane."

The man opened his eyes, looked at Horatio with a smile, then stood up and walked to the stairs that automatically unfolded.

"This is PW1-A-13 Sky Garden, the largest area insured by the Admiralty. Five of the six lords and captains of the Gothic Fleet now live here." The man introduced to Horatio beside him:
"This is my home, over there is Admiral Rodney's residence, and the one connected to it is the residence of the two Hood brothers, and then over there is the residence of Captain Lord Elphinstone. Your father should have had one too, but he made the battleship's bedroom his home."

Horatio looked at the residence of Major General Alexander Hood in the distance. The whole mansion was brightly lit, and the light from Farida's room should also be there.

He felt quite emotional in his heart. When he came last night, he was still a death row prisoner wanted worldwide by the Ministry of Justice and could only sneak into the boudoir.

And now, he has become an imperial soldier.

Standing upright on the garden apron of an Imperial Navy Commodore, the guards on both sides snapped their guns, raised their guns to their shoulders, and saluted Horatio and Commodore Peru.

Brigadier General Peru waved his hand and led Horatio to the main gate.

In front of the immaculate white Victorian double doors, servants and maids stood in a row, bowing to their masters and distinguished guests.

This was the first time Horatio enjoyed such distinguished treatment, and he inexplicably felt a strange feeling of dizziness in his heart.

He raised his head and looked at the platform outside the gate that was led to by spiral steps on both sides. There stood a dignified and voluptuous woman. The girl holding her arm should be her daughter. She was dressed like a decent and not ostentatious British girl, and wore a snow-white, soft ladies' woolen wide-brimmed hat on her head.

Both mother and daughter have beautiful faces. The girl has the same shiny black brown hair as her mother. She has a dignified and quiet manner.

"Thank you for your hard work, two ladies." Edward handed the velvet bicorne hat to the personal butler who came over, took off the navy cloak he was wearing, and handed it to another butler.

Then he raised his hand and introduced Horatio next to him.

"Horatio Cochran, son of Thomas Cochran."

"Oh, what a handsome boy! He will probably be more handsome and taller than Captain Thomas when he grows up." The lady praised with a smile.

Edward then introduced the other two owners of the family to Horatio: "My wife, Lady Monsa, and this one is my daughter, Thei, who is just 15 years old this year."

"Ah. She's already 15 years old." Horatio thought as he looked at the little girl in front of him who looked only twelve or thirteen years old.

The girl smiled and looked at Horatio with her big golden eyes, meeting his gaze.

Suddenly, the girl's eyes fell on Horatio's belly.

Horatio followed her gaze and saw a large patch of blood that had dried to a dark brown color, which had just been stained when rescuing the baker.

"We miss your father very much. He used to come to our house very often. He has been dealing with our family for more than ten years."

"Twenty years," Brigadier General Edward corrected with a polite smile.

"I crashed into the Lower Nest eight years ago. I lost all my previous memories and I don't remember what my parents look like." Horatio smiled bitterly.
"I'm sorry to visit you like this. I'm not very clean."

"Mr. Horatio participated in a heroic operation to rescue the wounded in Vegas. Why would we mind the blood on his body?" Edward said.

"The Emperor approves of you, sir." The girl praised with a soft voice and a smile:

"I was a member of the Boy Scouts. Not everyone has the courage to help a bloody victim. I've experienced that and I know how much courage it takes to take that step."

"Thank you, miss."

Horatio bowed, then stood up and said, "It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too, Mr. Cochrane. You seem like an interesting guy."

Horatio smiled in response.

"Stay here tonight after dinner. I'll take you to Zhongsi College tomorrow morning." Edward nodded.

"You are such a child who never succumbs to fate. Come on, don't be shy. You must be hungry after such a long journey. My dear, I asked the chef to prepare a sumptuous feast early in the morning. It smells delicious."

Madame Monsa walked gracefully with her daughter on her arm, and the four of them walked into the main hall of the residence together.

Of course, having a good meal without being disturbed is only one aspect.

His most fundamental purpose in coming here was to wait for Brigadier General Peru to have a private conversation with him.

There are so many things I want to ask this man.
