Chapter 312 05.0311: "Fal, take off"
"Dear pilots, the baseline sea pressure parameters have been sent to all of your data boards. When performing airborne operations within the atmosphere, be sure to debug the pressure altimeter."
Captain Fasha spoke to the pilots from each squadron sitting below in front of the whiteboard.
Suddenly, she straightened her back and chest and saluted the person who came outside the door.
"Commander, all the combat missions you assigned have been arranged."
Horatio nodded, looked around the room, and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, the naval task force I will lead will land on the ground to perform special operations.
During the landing operation we had no heavy firepower and no idea how many enemies were below.
But we will do our best to seize and adjust the climate control devices, and once the weather conditions become clear and sunny, supporting firepower will depend on you."
The pilots stood up together and saluted the air commander:
"Yes! Please rest assured, Commander. We will live up to the Divine Emperor's wishes."
Horatio nodded, and finally looked at Fasha: "See you after the operation, everyone."
"May your military career be prosperous, Commander!" The female pilot said in a serious tone without looking away, which was completely different from the free-spirited her in the fighter plane before.
Horatio nodded back and strode out.
Fully armed, Louise stood in front of the opening of the Star Fortress shuttle apron, holding the Hell Carbine in one hand and her helmet in the other, looking at the colorful stars in the distant void.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Horatio walked silently behind her, admired her for a while, and said softly.
"Hmm. Do you see that white planet, Horatio?"
"Saw."
"I heard that the moon Luna also looks that white and flawless. By the way, have you ever seen what the moon looks like?"
"Uh, well..." He couldn't tell whether the moon in this world looked the same as the moon he had been on.
"No." He was not sure, so he answered: "Where did you hear about the moon?"
“My parents, who are biologists from Cadia, have been to the moon for a seminar.
They said it was a beautiful place like white porcelain, and they would take me to see it if they had the chance. "At this point, Louise turned her eyes away from Farr and said no more.
Horatio knew that her parents had not been able to fulfill their words, because in the unfortunate accident that followed, the plague turned everyone on the ship, including them and their husband, into Nurgle zombies, with only Louise surviving.
"You will see it, Louise." Horatio stood beside her and looked into the distance together.
"We are His Holy Navy. One day, we will reach Holy Terra, where we will see the moon that is as flawless as a white jade."
"You are right, Horatio. The sea of stars is vast. One day, we will travel to every territory of the Empire."
Although traveling across the galaxy is an impossible task even for most Imperial Navy officers, it is the dream of every navy member.
"If I become a captain, I will definitely apply for an escort mission to Holy Terra or Mars. Then, I will take you to the moon for a good look." Horatio turned his head and smiled gently, promising in a soft tone.
Louise lowered her head and chuckled. The melancholy and sadness in her eyes were diluted a lot, and she felt shy in her heart. After putting on her helmet, she gave Horatio a headbutt that made it difficult to see his expression.
"Don't think too much about it. Just carry out your mission well." She said, "Everything needed to set up the command camp is ready."
Louise took the still confused Horatio to the door of the Valkyrie fighter plane they were going to board.
"According to your arrangement, this Valkyrie has been equipped with a Thinker array, camp construction materials, some logistical supplies, and four... um... 'maid robot servants' provided by Father Lati.
This Valkyrie is mainly equipped with these equipment, and there are passenger seats for the two of us. Officer Collingwood and other members of the Fifth Task Force will take another Valkyrie, land with us, and then set up a command camp together. "
"Well, I hope everything goes as planned," Horatio said.
Considering that direct orbital airdrops of supplies before clearing the airspace would most likely expose the Cobra-class destroyers in orbit, Horatio did not allow the Imperial Navy to send armed forces and the ship's Interior Ministry clerks to consume additional supplies.
Instead, they chose the service-type servitors designed and manufactured by Father Lati. These servitors will replace traditional manpower and help the Hell's Vanguard build a frontier command post on the battlefield.
Based on three days of discussion, the area around the enemy's core area has been divided into multiple war zones, which represent the landing sites and attack directions of the subsequent main forces of the Astra Militarum.
All grand strategies will be carried out around the continent where the core area of the planet is located. Although there are rebels in other continental blocks, the elimination of these rebels will be the responsibility of individual battalions drawn from the participating Imperial Guard regiments.
Those more insignificant areas that lack strategic value are not even bothered by the Imperial Guard.
The remnants of the defeated troops in the corners will be eliminated by the volunteer militia that came with the colonial ship (these people will constitute the first batch of planetary defense forces) and the small garrison left by the Astra Militarum.
Unless there is a clear garrison mission, each regiment of the Astra Militarum usually has a deployment schedule for two to three planetary war zones.
Once they complete their combat mission on a planet, they will rush to the next battlefield on the troop transport ship.
Security warfare is not their main responsibility, and no regimental commander or battalion commander would spend their troops endlessly suppressing harassment.
To be on the safe side, all Hell Snipers are equipped with gravity parachute backpacks.
This was the last line of defense that allowed them to land safely after the Valkyrie they were on was destroyed.
Horatio and Louise finally board the Valkyrie.
"Everyone is ready." Louise reported.
"Cleared for takeoff." The tower responded quickly.
Soon, the ducts of the Valkyrie fighters began to roar. One after another, the Valkyries took off from the hangar and headed towards the scheduled airdrop coordinates.
"Horatio, did you arrange the escort for those Fury interceptors?" Louise asked curiously as she looked at the flying formation outside the front glass.
"The near air is safe, no escort required."
Horatio turned around in confusion and looked into the void.
It was a voluntary escort flight by a squadron from each of the two flying groups.
The fuselage logo of the Skyhawk 1, which is closest to the Valkyrie, is clearly visible.
Seeing Horatio looking at her, the female pilot in the helmet gave him a thumbs up.
Accompanied by two flying squadrons, the Valkyrie fighter began to dive downward, with golden-red flames all over its body.
After entering the atmospheric orbit, the thin air rubbed against the fuselage, causing the entire aircraft to vibrate violently.
This is a normal phenomenon when a void aircraft encounters wind resistance.
The front of each Valkyrie fighter had high-temperature golden-red air waves generated by friction with the atmosphere.
Horatio, who was sitting side by side with Louise, was calm and composed. He even had the leisure to look at the maid and servant sitting in front of him.
The imitation human skin on their surface is indeed quite textured, white with a hint of red, moist and shiny, as if they were the living maids of the Nesttop nobles, but there was no life in their eyes.
Horatio didn't know whether these mechanical servants were genetically engineered creations that came out of Father Latti's incubator or were directly modified from living people.
After staring for too long, the robot's eyes seemed to sense biological signals and moved slightly.
The inhuman creature imitated the details of humans vividly, but the strangeness revealed in the imitation still made him feel uncomfortable for a moment.
"Maid K2B17 is at your service." A pleasant female voice without any emotion came from the throat, tender and soft, as if the lips painted with lip glaze moved only symbolically.
"..." Horatio did not reply. He had nothing to say to the servitor.
He turned his head and looked out the porthole.
The overwhelming dark clouds of the blizzard were hovering right below him, covering the entire continent as far as the eye could see.
Until the last ray of starlight disappeared on the horizon, the body rushed into the storm.
