Chapter 12 I Want to Become Extraordinary
In the study, little Chloe was hiding in the grid under the bookcase. Although it was a little narrow, it was just enough for her. She liked to hide here when playing hide-and-seek.
In the dark and confined space, she had no idea what was happening and could only wait blankly, her small body curled up as she counted her own heartbeats.
She didn't know how long it was before the noise outside disappeared, and then in the silence she suddenly heard the sound of the doorknob turning and a knock on the door.
Little Kolo was about to answer when he suddenly realized - what if it was a bad guy?
An unprecedented huge fear suddenly rushed into her heart. She covered her mouth tightly, her body stiff and motionless, for fear of making even the slightest sound.
Until I heard my mother's voice.
Little Kolo pushed hard and opened the bookcase door, ran to the door, pulled the study door open, and rushed into his mother's arms like a little bomb.
"Woo woo woo, Mom, I'm so scared."
Seeing the deep affection between the mother and daughter, Luke quietly left, came to little Chloe's room, and took out the tooth that fell out today from under her pillow.
This thing might be what attracted the tooth fairy. If Father Moore took a look, he might find something. However, there was no need to let my mother and Chloe know about this.
Luke put the tooth in his pocket and walked out.
With her mother's comfort, Chloe's crying stopped, leaving only a few occasional sobs.
Father Moore finished dealing with the matters on the first floor and went upstairs. Luke leaned over and saw that his mother and Chloe were not paying attention to him. Then he took out the tooth he had just found from his pocket and handed it to him, and whispered, "Father, take a look, is the arrival of the tooth fairy related to this tooth?"
Moore took the tooth and carefully sensed it with his mental power. As expected, he found a very subtle breath of dark energy in it, and this breath came from the same source as the Tooth Fairy he had just destroyed.
"It should be that the Tooth Fairy's innate ability accidentally marked this tooth, so she was able to come here directly through the other world." Moore continued his guess: "Although the other world can move quickly within a certain range, it cannot directly invade a closed room."
"The tooth fairy showed up at your door, knocked on the door, and then killed the lady who answered the door, and then this is what we saw."
"Give me this tooth as well. I will send it to the church to be purified and destroyed. Otherwise, other tooth fairies might sense the presence of the same kind and come again."
I also learned a new piece of knowledge - the other side world, according to Moore's description, should have the ability to enable people to move quickly within a range.
Luke was about to ask more in depth questions, but when he saw that Moore was looking very secretive again, he had to shut up.
Ten minutes later, when Philemon rushed back from the company, the scene had been almost cleaned up. The three bodies were all gathered in the backyard. Except for the bullet marks and broken glass on the gate, there was no sign that the gate had experienced a battle with supernatural creatures.
Moore and Fran called him successively. He had basically understood the general course of events during the calls. The crisis at home had been resolved. Although three people had died, this kind of extraordinary event was different from normal deaths. The authorities would not pursue responsibility and would only pay more compensation.
The only thing that worried him was what Moore said, that his eldest son Luke, after this close contact with the dark creatures, became interested in the extraordinary world. After returning home, Philemon first comforted his wife and daughter, and then called Luke and Moore to the study.
"Thank you for your help. I owe you a big favor." Philemon said, holding Moore's hand.
If he had not been at the scene of today's incident, there would probably be only a pile of corpses waiting for him to return home.
Moore did not take credit for himself, but said modestly: "You are a loyal servant of God. As a shepherd, I have the obligation to protect the Lord's lambs from the claws of dark creatures."
Philemon immediately understood and said, "I will go to Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in person tomorrow to listen to God's teachings."
Moore nodded with satisfaction. The favor of a wealthy man like Philemon was very valuable. Moreover, the amount of money he would donate to the church tomorrow would definitely not be a small amount. This was also an important achievement of Moore in the church.
Being able to make money is a huge plus no matter what organization you are in.
After the polite words and thanks, it was time to get down to business. Moore leaned forward, looked at Luke, and said seriously, "For some reasons, there are some things I couldn't explain to you before. Now that Mr. Philemon is here, we can have a formal talk."
He looked at Philemon again, and then continued the previous topic: "I know you are very curious about the extraordinary world. Now I want to tell you a basic rule - non-extraordinary people are not allowed to explore extraordinary information. Therefore, only when you have really made a choice and are ready to become an extraordinary person, can I tell you more specific news."
Philemon nodded and confirmed: "I only vaguely know the existence of the extraordinary world, but I don't know any detailed information at all."
"That's the right approach!" Moore praised. "It's very dangerous for ordinary people to master extraordinary knowledge, even if it's just common sense. Of course, I can't tell you the specific reason, at least not before you become an extraordinary person. This is also one of the dangers."
"I can only tell you now that becoming a superhuman is a very dangerous thing. New superhumans only have a 50% chance of surviving the first year. And if you are just an ordinary person, it is basically difficult to encounter superhuman events. Today's incident was an accident and a special case."
After saying that, he kept silent and waited for Luke's decision.
Philemon opened his mouth to speak, then stopped.
Logically speaking, as the son of a billionaire, there is no need for Luke to become a supernatural being. Wouldn't it be better for him to just inherit the family fortune?
In this capitalist world, as long as you have money, there is nothing you can't do. Even if you feel insecure because of what happened today, the worst that can happen is you can hire extraordinary people to do security, or buy more holy water from the church. There is always a solution.
As a senior executive of a large company, although he is used to arranging and preaching to his subordinates, he is now at home and this is his only son. Even if you are the richest man in the world, if you say something unpleasant, your son will still show a displeasure, which may even make the child rebellious.
Besides, this kid has the right idea, and even as an old father like me, I may not be able to convince him.
Luke understood what Philemon meant, but he had no way to become extraordinary before he traveled through time. After he traveled through time, he still had a cheat. If he didn’t get involved in the extraordinary again, wouldn’t it be a waste of his time traveling through time?
Under the gaze of the two, he said firmly: "I want to become an extraordinary person."
